Colour codes are an integral part of a healthcare emergency plan and are used to broadcast an emergency message (typically by overhead public address speakers) to healthcare workers.

Unfortunately the colour code system set out in Australian Standards AS 4083 & AS 3745 does not cater for people who have colour vision deficiency, also known as colour blindness.

We have developed proprietary artwork and registered design that has been developed specifically to help people working in healthcare with colour vision deficiency.

If you would like more information about this subject, register your details ad as a bonus, we will send you a copy of our unique artwork covering the emergency colour codes in Australia.

We are also soon launching our Essential Guide to Planning for Emergencies which will be accessed online. By registering you will receive preferential access to this amazing content that includes a suite of comprehensive videos to help both the emergency planning committee and emergency control organisations.

What you will receive when you register your details with us is a copy of the artwork that you can use in your own healthcare organisation.

What does the artwork look like?

Our Colour Code System design has FOUR features you know you will love;

  1. The artwork has been designed for people with colour vision deficiency including Monochromatism, Dichromatism or Anomalous Trichromacy, we've got you covered. By incorporating words and illustrations into our system, even for people with colour blindness or low vision our design artwork is beautiful and informative.
  2. The artwork has been designed for the ID-1 format meaning it has been constrained in its design to fit the size of a credit-card or identification card with the dimensions of 85.60 by 53.98 millimetres with a corner radius of 3 mm.
  3. The pictograms have been selected to compliment the intent of each colour, making it easy to understand objective of the emergency.
  4. The four colours used match the requirements of Table 4.1 of Australian Standard AS 3745:2010 — Planning for Emergencies in Facilities
