Responsible Entity

The responsible entity or responsible person is the individual or entity responsible and accountable for the building including the routine service of the fire protection systems and equipment.

Example of the responsible entity includes the following;

  • building owner or the agent of the building owner
  • occupier or tenant;
  • facility manager, building manager or building supervisor;
  • owners corporation (body corporate) etc.

In each State or Territory in Australia the responsible entity is set out in legislation. This responsibility may also be novated to nominee of the building owner or occupier of the building.
