Pyrotechnic Actuator

Pyrotechnic Actuator

In fire safety, a pyrotechnic actuator is an electro-mechanical device triggered by an electrical signal, initiating a controlled chemical reaction to rapidly release gas or force. This energy drives a piston to perform specific actions, such as releasing fire suppression agents, releasing water in an automatic fire sprinkler systems to control and contain the spread of fire within the building.

Pyrotechnic actuators are typically single-use components and must be inspected or replaced in line with manufacturers advice and/or maintenance standards such as AS1851.
