Intumescent

The term intumescent is a form of passive fire protection refers to a materials systems or coatings (such as certain paints) that swell, expand and char when exposed to heat. 

  1. Intumescent Materials
    An intumescent material includes sealants, strips and gaskets that are used to provide fire-resisting protection of gaps around doors, windows, construction joints, penetrations and other openings that helps prevent prevent the passage and spread of fire (heat and smoke).
  2. Intumescent System
    An intumescent system is an assembly of components that includes intumescent materials arranged to protect the passage and spread of fire (heat and smoke) such as a fire collar.
  3. Intumescent Coatings
    Intumescent coatings are specific paints applied to structural elements like beams and columns. When exposed to fire, these coatings swell to form a protective char layer, enhancing the fire resistance of the structure.
