Fusible Link

Fusible Link

In fire safety, a fusible link is a temperature-sensitive device designed to activate fire protection systems or equipment. It consists of two metal components fused by a heat-sensitive alloy that melts at a specific temperature.

When exposed to fire, the alloy melts, causing the link to separate and triggering actions such as closing fire doors, releasing fire dampers, or activating fire protection systems.

Certain types of sprinkler heads are a type of fusible link.

A fusible link is a single-use component and must be inspected, tested or replaced in line with manufacturers advice and/or maintenance standards such as Australian Standard AS 1851.
