- Deflagration
Deflagration is a rapid, subsonic combustion process where a flame front propagates through fuel at speeds below the speed of sound1. In contrast to detonation, which generates supersonic shockwaves, deflagration relies on heat transfer to ignite adjacent flammable gas or dust particles.
