Certifier

A certifier,  registered certifier or principal certifier (New South Wales) is an individual or council authorised under section 6.5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act (NSW) 1979 (EP&A Act) to perform several key functions related to ensuring compliance with the state's planning and building regulations.

A registered certifier is typically a qualified building surveyor, that issues construction certificates, carries out inspections, issues occupation certificates, and issues compliance certificates.

Other types include swimming pool inspectors, engineers, and strata certifiers.
