Australian Standard AS 1670 is a suite of Standards covering the design, installation, commissioning and documentation of fire detection, warning, control and intercom systems. The Standrad covers the following parts;

  • Part 1: System design, installation and commissioning (Fire)
  • Part 2: System design, installation and commissioning (Local Fire) (Superseded)
  • Part 3: Alarm Monitoring Systems – Monitoring network performance
  • Part 4: Emergency warning and intercommunication systems in buildings, System design, installation and commissioning
  • Part 5: Special Hazards Systems
  • Part 6: Smoke Alarms

AS 1670.1 — Fire detection, warning, control and intercom systems—System design, installation and commissioning
Part 1: Fire

This Standard sets out requirements for the design, installation and commissioning of fire detection and alarm systems comprising components conforming to the requirements of the appropriate component Standards.

Part 4: Emergency warning and intercom systems

This Standard specifies requirements for the design, installation and commissioning of emergency warning and emergency intercom systems comprised of components conforming to the requirements of the applicable normatively referenced Standards.
