Introduction

In this role, we are seeking a tertiary qualified individual who has a passion for fire safety and willing to take on new challenges and learn.  This new role will have you hands on in the field inspecting the fire safety systems and equipment in buildings, identifying non-conformances and defects.  This information will need to be compiled into a detailed report for stakeholders.

Our customers are TIER 1 building owners and have a high attention to detail. We are highly regarded for our advice and experience.  In this capacity you will have direct contact with the building owner, helping them meet their statutory compliance needs.

This is a new role and will give the graduate an immense amount of exposure to the inner workings of buildings, giving you first hand knowledge of the things you learn about at university, but may have never seen.

A previous employee of Firewize who went on to work in a large consulting firm remarked "most of my new engineering colleagues had never seen an aspirating smoke detection system, yet they were designing them without any regard to the practical requirements of the system and its design."  This person started with Firewize as a technician and went on to study Fire Engineering as a career with much success.

As part of the compliance and building services team, you will:

  • Organise and undertake the review of the fire and essential safety measures in buildings, preparing detailed reports for stakeholder review and action.
  • Initiate and be responsible for the review, analysis and documentation of projects.
  • Liaise with clients, building surveyors and architects to satisfy the fire system design expectations for buildings.
  • Provide input to the construction phase by attending meetings and conducting site inspections.

The role is based in the Melbourne metropolitan area with opportunities to travel from time to time.
