We don't expect you to have an electrical license but you may have current or past experience installing cables, catenary, heat detectors, smoke detectors and speakers. Even if you don't have experience in the fire industry, but you are comfortable with extra low voltage electrical installations, this opportunity may be for you.

Job Details

Installing fire detection, alarm and emergency warning systems involves installing extra low voltage cables for fire detectors and warning system speakers in Class 5 office buildings.  You will need to be self motivated and self directed with limited supervision. You will be working in a team environment and by yourself from time to time.

Skills & Experience

You will likely have been working in the electrical trades, data, telecommunications, security or an allied area within the construction industry.

We are not looking for a qualified electrician, just someone with a great attitude and relevant experience.

Duties

Your duties will include elements of the design, assembly, installation, diagnose and repair electrical systems and circuits for fire detection, alarm and emergency warning systems. This will include the following;

  • conducting a job hazard analysis and preparing a safe work method statement;
  • planning your day-to-day duties, thinking ahead and communicating your plans;
  • reading drawings and marking up plans showing installation and wiring layouts;
  • installing cable supports cush as catenary, PVC conduit, cable duct and cable tray;
  • installing extra low voltage cables (both non-fire resisting and fire resisting cable types);
  • troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate of testing devices;
  • effectively communicating with your immediate supervisor, colleagues customers and other stakeholders.
Work Location

Our office is based in Notting Hill however you will be based within the Melbourne central business district, with easy access to trains and trams for the duration of this casual employment agreement.
