Using coloured silicone wristbands help team and social distancing for COVID-19

At Firewize we identified the risk from COVID-19 early and in line with our infection prevention and control policy we have constantly sought the best way to protect our team from infection and furthering the spread of infection to others. Our latest move has been to allocate coloured silicone wristbands of different colours to all of our team to promote team distancing to the next level.

CEO, Firewize

Here in Victoria we entered Stage 3 lockdown for a second time on July 9, 2020 for six weeks.  Stage 3 lockdown means the four reasons to leave your home are: shopping for food and essential items, care and caregiving, daily exercise, work and study.

Of course we continue to deliver fire safety maintenance and emergency support on behalf of building owners to keep the occupants of their buildings safe from fire while protecting their building investment.

The health and safety of our employees and our customers are paramount to the service we provide.  To this end, we have developed a simple system to ensure we can maintain our services even if one person is suspected of an infection.

Team Silicone Wristbands

To achieve this we have allocated all of our employees to a small group, and each group is allocated a coloured silicone wristband.  Each colour wristband represents your team.

We have also allocated a team leader, office days and specific customer sites where each team can operate without coming into contact with someone from a different team.

With some education, using the coloured wristbands also helps our team members identify who during this time of lockdown they can associate with.  Note: We believe in the freedom of association, but not at the expense of placing each other at risk from COVID-19 infection.

In addition to this all of our employees are given a Personal Protective Equipment pack that includes hand sanitizer, face masks and disposable gloves.

Of course our response to COVID-19 is a work in progress, as we learn the best ways to minimize the ramifications of one person being infected (or even suspected of being infected).  These ramifications (left unchecked) could lead to infection running rampant through our whole team, eroding our ability to deliver essential services and possibly even adversely affecting our customers.

If you have any questions about our planning and preparation in relation to COVID-19, feel free to contact our office by telephone email or social media.
