CoVID-19 Vaccinations

Medical professionals have stated that one of the ways we can reduce the spread of CoVID-19 is to get vaccinated. At Firewize we are doing our part by encouraging our team to get vaccinated.

CEO, Firewize
09 Aug, 2021

Ahead of the curve, I am pleased to confirm that as of August 9, 2021, over 65% of the Firewize employees have received at least one vaccination for CoVID-19, with 45% currently waiting to receive their second vaccination.

We have been encouraging our employees from early 2021 to get vaccinated for their own health and the safety of our customers.

Vaccination

We have also held a CoVID-19 vaccination question and answer session at one of our daily team huddles (online video chat) where everyone is encouraged to join in at 9:30am every day.

Here are some of the questions and answers we have received and provided to our team;

Are CoVID vaccinations free?
COVID-19 vaccines will be free for everyone living in Australia. You will not need a prescription from a GP to get vaccinated.

What is the benefit of getting vaccinated
Vaccination is the most effective way to protect against infectious diseases.

Vaccines strengthen your immune system by training it to recognise and fight against specific viruses.

When enough people in the community are vaccinated, it slows down the spread of disease.

Higher vaccination rates makes outbreaks much less likely. It also reduces the need for preventive measures, such as border closures and travel restrictions.

Does the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine cause blood clots?
There has been a link established between the AstraZeneca vaccine and a very rare but serious side effect called thrombosis and thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS). here is a very low chance of this side effect, which may occur in around 4-6 people in every million after being vaccinated.

How do I book to get my CoVID vaccination?
If you have a pre-existing medical condition you should consult with your doctor who will be able to talk to you about your health and any questions you have.

For everyone else, you can book your vaccine appointment online via the Victorian Department of Health website.

How long will the COVID-19 vaccine last once I have had 2 doses?
It is not yet known how long the protection of the COVID-19 vaccine will last. We will know more through ongoing research. Clinical trials are currently happening to find out if we will need booster doses on an annual or longer basis.

Our business purpose is to help discerning building owners eliminate the risk and consequence from fire in their buildings, so it stands to reason that in order to achieve this goal we need to ensure we are all vaccinated.

While we have already achieved over 65% vaccinations we expect over the next 2 weeks we will have over 90% of our team who have voluntarily been vaccinated at least once.
